We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our dynamic healthcare team in Rome, Georgia. Key Responsibilities
- Administer medications safely and accurately as prescribed by physicians, adhering to all protocols and regulations.
- Monitor, record, and report changes in patient conditions, including vital signs, symptoms, and responses to treatments, escalating concerns to supervising RNs or physicians.
- Perform various nursing procedures such as wound care, catheter insertions, and specimen collection, ensuring aseptic technique.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding, promoting patient independence where possible.
- Educate patients and their families on health maintenance, disease prevention, medication adherence, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient medical records using electronic health record (EHR) systems, ensuring confidentiality.
- Collaborate effectively with Registered Nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Ensure a clean, organized, and safe patient environment, including proper disposal of medical waste.
- Adhere strictly to all nursing protocols, hospital policies, and state and federal regulations, including HIPAA compliance.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to medical emergencies and assist with CPR and other life-saving measures as needed.
Required Skills
- Current and unrestricted LPN license in the State of Georgia.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA preferred) valid for current practice.
- Proficient in medication administration and dosage calculations with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong observational, assessment, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities for effective patient and team interaction.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment, managing multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and information retrieval.
- Compassionate, empathetic, and patient-centered approach to care, demonstrating cultural sensitivity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as an LPN in a clinical, acute care, or long-term care setting.
- Experience with specific EHR systems used by Atrium Health Floyd (e.g., Epic).
- Additional certifications related to specific areas of nursing (e.g., IV certification, Phlebotomy).
- Associate's degree or Diploma from an accredited Practical Nursing program.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
