Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and advise on new and existing financial services laws, regulations, and industry codes of practice (e.g., Corporations Act, Banking Act, AML/CTF Act, Privacy Act).
- Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and frameworks across various business units.
- Conduct regular compliance risk assessments and identify potential areas of non-compliance, recommending corrective actions.
- Provide expert legal and compliance advice to senior management and business stakeholders on complex regulatory matters.
- Monitor regulatory changes and trends, assessing their impact on NAB's operations and proactively developing strategies to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Assist in the development and delivery of compliance training programs for employees at all levels.
- Oversee and manage regulatory breach incidents, ensuring timely reporting and remediation.
- Engage with external regulators (e.g., APRA, ASIC, AUSTRAC) on compliance-related inquiries and examinations.
- Review and approve marketing materials, product disclosures, and customer communications for compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of NAB’s compliance operating model and risk management capabilities.
Required Skills
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited university.
- Current admission to practice law in Australia.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in legal compliance, regulatory affairs, or a related role within the financial services industry.
- Strong understanding of Australian financial services laws and regulations (e.g., Corporations Act, ASIC Act, Banking Act, AML/CTF Act).
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely.
- Proven ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.

- Post-graduate qualification in Law, Finance, or Business.
