Career.supersecrets is excited to announce an opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Laundry Supervisor to join a prominent hotel in the bustling Mile 2 district of Lagos. This pivotal role requires a meticulous individual with a strong understanding of laundry operations within a high-volume hospitality environment. As Laundry Supervisor, you will be instrumental in overseeing the daily functions of the hotel’s laundry department, ensuring that all guest linens, uniforms, and in-house textiles are processed efficiently, to the highest standards of cleanliness, and in a timely manner.
Your expertise will ensure the seamless management of washing, drying, ironing, folding, and distribution processes. You will be responsible for leading a dedicated team, fostering a positive and productive work environment, and implementing best practices for equipment maintenance and chemical usage. This includes training new staff, scheduling shifts, and conducting performance reviews. A key aspect of this role involves maintaining stringent inventory controls for laundry supplies and chemicals, meticulously tracking usage, and placing orders to prevent shortages.
You will also be the primary point of contact for resolving any laundry-related issues or discrepancies, working closely with other hotel departments such as Housekeeping, Front Office, and Food & Beverage to meet their specific needs. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the hotel laundry department, including washing, drying, pressing, folding, and sorting of guest linens, staff uniforms, and restaurant textiles.
- Lead, train, and supervise a team of laundry attendants, ensuring high standards of productivity and quality.
- Develop and implement effective work schedules and assignments to optimize workflow and meet operational demands.
- Conduct regular inspections of linen quality, ensuring all items meet hygiene and presentation standards before distribution.
- Manage inventory of laundry chemicals, supplies, and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper usage.
- Operate and maintain all laundry machinery, including washers, dryers, and ironers, performing minor troubleshooting and coordinating major repairs.
- Implement and enforce all health, safety, and environmental guidelines within the laundry area.
- Collaborate with the Housekeeping and other relevant departments to forecast linen needs and ensure timely delivery.
- Address and resolve guest complaints or internal issues related to laundry services promptly and professionally.
- Maintain accurate records of linen inventory, chemical consumption, and equipment maintenance.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in laundry operations, preferably within a hotel or hospitality setting.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent knowledge of various fabric types and appropriate washing, drying, and pressing techniques.
- Familiarity with industrial laundry machinery and equipment maintenance.
- Proficiency in inventory management and stock control.
- Commitment to high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and quality control.
