Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all daily laundry operations, including sorting, washing, drying, ironing, folding, and distribution of linens, towels, and staff uniforms.
- Supervise, train, and motivate laundry staff, ensuring high productivity, adherence to schedules, and excellent performance.
- Implement and maintain stringent quality control standards for cleanliness, fabric care, and presentation of all laundered items.
- Monitor inventory of linens, detergents, and other laundry supplies, placing orders as needed to maintain adequate stock levels.
- Perform routine checks and preventative maintenance on laundry equipment (washers, dryers, irons) to ensure optimal functionality and extend lifespan.
- Develop and enforce health, safety, and hygiene protocols within the laundry department, ensuring a clean and safe working environment.
- Manage laundry expenses effectively, ensuring cost-efficient operations without compromising quality.
- Coordinate with the Housekeeping and Front Office departments to meet daily demand and special requests.
- Resolve any issues related to laundry quality or operational challenges promptly and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of laundry activities, inventory, and equipment maintenance.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in laundry operations, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role, preferably within a hotel or hospitality environment.
- Thorough knowledge of various fabric types, cleaning agents, and laundry machinery operation and maintenance.
- Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and train staff.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of cleanliness and quality.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina to handle demanding tasks and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- OND/HND in Hospitality Management or a related field.
- Certifications in laundry management, hygiene, or textile care.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) for inventory tracking and reporting.
- Experience in a similar role within a guesthouse or boutique hotel setting.
