Assmang Ltd’s Black Rock Mine Operations in Hotazel is seeking a dedicated and meticulous Laundry Assistant to join our on-site support services team. This pivotal role ensures the provision of clean, well-maintained linens, uniforms, and other textile items essential for the smooth functioning of our employee accommodation facilities, medical centre, and various operational departments. As a Laundry Assistant, you will be responsible for the efficient processing of laundry items from collection through to distribution, maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and quality. Your keen eye for detail, commitment to cleanliness, and adherence to established procedures will directly contribute to the comfort and well-being of our staff and the overall professional appearance of our facilities. Key Responsibilities
- Sort and separate laundry items according to fabric type, colour, and washing requirements.
- Operate commercial washing machines, dryers, and ironing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload laundry, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage or loss.
- Monitor washing and drying cycles, adjusting settings as needed for optimal results.
- Fold, press, and hang clean laundry items neatly and accurately.
- Inspect items for stains or damage, reporting any issues to the supervisor.
- Maintain accurate inventory of laundry supplies and report replenishment needs to ensure continuous operation.
- Keep the laundry area clean, tidy, and organised, adhering strictly to hygiene and safety standards at all times.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of laundry equipment as per schedule.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations, including the proper use of PPE.
- Assist with the distribution and collection of laundered items to various departments or staff accommodation units.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy laundry bags and operate equipment safely.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
