Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior laboratory technologists in preparing and processing patient samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) for various diagnostic tests.
- Perform routine laboratory tests under supervision, adhering strictly to established protocols and quality control measures.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality, and reporting any malfunctions promptly.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of tests performed, results, and quality control data.
- Ensure strict compliance with laboratory safety protocols, including the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Prepare reagents and media according to standard operating procedures.
- Assist with inventory management of laboratory supplies and reagents, notifying supervisors of low stock levels.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development programs to enhance laboratory skills and knowledge.
- Adhere to all regulatory guidelines and accreditation standards relevant to medical laboratory practice in Nigeria.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure efficiency and safety.
Required Skills
- Associate's Degree or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related scientific field from an accredited institution.
- Strong foundational knowledge of basic laboratory techniques and safety procedures.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in performing tasks and recording data.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
