Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior laboratory staff with routine tasks, including sample preparation, basic experimental setups, and data recording.
- Ensure the cleanliness and proper sterilization of laboratory equipment, glassware, and work areas according to established guidelines.
- Manage and organize laboratory supplies, chemicals, and reagents, maintaining accurate inventory records and flagging low stock levels.
- Follow strict safety guidelines and protocols for handling, storage, and disposing of hazardous materials and biological waste.
- Prepare and label reagents and solutions accurately under the direct supervision of qualified personnel.
- Support in the collection, segregation, and proper disposal of all laboratory waste materials.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or discrepancies in inventory promptly to the supervisor.
- Maintain detailed and accurate logs of tasks performed and observations made.
- Participate actively in all required training sessions and safety briefings.
Required Skills
- Minimum of Secondary School Certificate (SSCE/WASSCE).
- Strong willingness and enthusiasm to learn new laboratory techniques and procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions meticulously and accurately.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective team collaboration.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
- Physical stamina for standing, walking, and occasional lifting of light to moderate loads (up to 15 kg).
- Commitment to punctuality and adherence to work schedules.
