Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, and work areas, ensuring they are clean, sterilized, and calibrated for optimal performance.
- Assist senior researchers and scientists in executing experiments, tests, and analyses following established protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Accurately record, document, and manage experimental data, observations, and results in lab notebooks and digital systems.
- Perform routine laboratory tasks including, but not limited to, sample preparation, media formulation, solution preparation, and chemical reagent mixing.
- Strictly adhere to all health, safety, and environmental guidelines and procedures (HSE), including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Conduct basic quality control checks on materials, reagents, and processes to ensure accuracy and reliability of experimental outcomes.
- Manage and monitor inventory of laboratory supplies, consumables, and chemical reagents, initiating replenishment orders as necessary.
- Troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions and report larger issues to appropriate personnel for repair.
- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to learn new laboratory techniques, instrumentation, and scientific methodologies.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, maintaining open communication to ensure smooth workflow and contribute to a positive team environment.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or a related scientific field.
- Strong foundational knowledge of basic laboratory principles and techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and experimental execution.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for data entry and documentation.
