Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and set up laboratory equipment and instruments for various experiments and analyses.
- Conduct routine laboratory tests and analyses accurately, strictly adhering to established standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Accurately record and document experimental data, observations, and results in laboratory notebooks and digital systems.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments (e.g., pH meters, centrifuges, spectrophotometers) to ensure precision and reliability.
- Assist senior researchers in conducting more complex experiments, data collection, and preliminary interpretation of results.
- Manage laboratory inventory, including monitoring stock levels, ordering new supplies and reagents, and proper storage.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols, waste disposal guidelines, and quality control standards within the laboratory.
- Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment to minimize downtime.
- Prepare chemical solutions, media, and reagents with precision for various laboratory procedures.
- Contribute to the upkeep, cleanliness, and organization of the laboratory workspace and equipment.
- Collaborate effectively with team members on ongoing research projects, sharing findings and insights.
Required Skills
- Strong foundational knowledge in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or a closely related scientific field.
- Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques such as pipetting, weighing, and solution preparation.
- Excellent data recording and documentation skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- High level of accuracy and precision in all laboratory tasks.
- Ability to follow complex instructions and experimental protocols precisely and consistently.
- Good problem-solving and analytical abilities to address unexpected issues in experiments.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, crucial for teamwork and reporting.
- Basic computer literacy, including proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or a closely related scientific discipline.
- Prior hands-on experience in a laboratory setting (academic projects, internships, or part-time roles are highly valued).
