Key Responsibilities
- Prepare reagents, solutions, and samples for various laboratory experiments.
- Perform routine laboratory procedures and tests accurately and efficiently under supervision.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, pH meters, and spectrophotometers.
- Record and document experimental data, observations, and results meticulously in lab notebooks or electronic systems.
- Assist senior researchers and scientists with experimental setup and execution.
- Ensure strict adherence to laboratory safety protocols, quality control standards, and good laboratory practices (GLP).
- Manage laboratory inventory, including ordering and stocking supplies to ensure smooth operations.
- Perform general lab housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions regarding experimental progress and findings.
- Troubleshoot basic equipment issues and report complex problems to senior staff.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree or HND in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Laboratory Science).
- Basic understanding of laboratory safety procedures and GLP.
- Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques (e.g., pipetting, preparing solutions, basic microscopy).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data recording and experimental execution.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to follow instructions precisely and work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel).
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior practical experience in a laboratory setting (e.g., academic projects, internships, volunteer work).
