Key Responsibilities
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, and cutlery by hand or using automated dishwashing equipment.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment, surfaces, and floors are consistently clean, sanitized, and well-maintained.
- Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling vegetables, portioning ingredients, and setting up workstations.
- Properly store and rotate food and non-food items according to FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles.
- Manage waste disposal and recycling effectively, ensuring bins are emptied regularly and areas remain tidy.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of dry storage areas, walk-in refrigerators, and freezers.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, maintenance needs, or safety hazards to the kitchen manager promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations and standards within the kitchen.
- Assist with receiving and checking deliveries, ensuring items match invoices and are stored appropriately.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items (up to 20kg) and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to work efficiently and calmly in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment.
- Strong attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.
- High level of reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Basic understanding of kitchen hygiene practices and food safety standards.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as an integral part of a diverse kitchen team.
- Willingness to learn new tasks, take direction, and adapt to changing operational needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter or in a similar support role within a professional restaurant or catering environment.

- Possession of a valid food handler's permit or certificate (if applicable in Lagos).
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in understanding instructions.
