Career.supersecrets is seeking a dedicated and meticulous Junior Laundry Supervisor to join our client’s esteemed hotel service team in Ikoyi, Lagos. As a Junior Laundry Supervisor, you will be instrumental in overseeing the daily functions of the laundry department, ensuring that all linens, uniforms, and guest garments are processed efficiently, hygienically, and to the highest quality. You will work closely with laundry attendants, providing guidance, training, and support to foster a productive and positive work environment.
Your day-to-day will involve hands-on supervision, meticulous quality control, and proactive management of laundry resources. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily laundry operations, ensuring efficient processing of all hotel linens, uniforms, and guest items.
- Train, motivate, and manage laundry attendants, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Conduct rigorous quality control checks on all laundered items to meet established hotel standards for cleanliness, folding, and presentation.
- Monitor inventory levels of laundry supplies (detergents, softeners, chemicals) and report needs to management promptly.
- Ensure proper use and preventative maintenance of all laundry machinery and equipment, scheduling routine cleaning and minor troubleshooting.
- Adhere strictly to all hygiene, sanitation, and safety guidelines within the laundry facility.
- Coordinate effectively with housekeeping and Food & Beverage departments to manage laundry flow and ensure timely delivery of clean items.
- Maintain accurate records of laundry loads, linen damage, supply consumption, and staff attendance.
- Handle guest laundry requests and inquiries professionally and discreetly, ensuring their satisfaction.
- Implement and promote sustainable laundry practices to minimize environmental impact (water and energy conservation).
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 1 year) in a commercial laundry or hotel laundry setting.
- Basic operational understanding of industrial laundry machinery.
- Knowledge of various fabric types and appropriate washing, drying, and ironing methods.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to lead and collaborate effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate a small team.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Physical stamina to perform duties that may involve standing for extended periods, lifting, and pushing carts.
