Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior surveyors in conducting a wide array of land surveys, including topographical, cadastral, construction staking, and comprehensive as-built surveys.
  • Efficiently operate, calibrate, and meticulously maintain state-of-the-art surveying equipment such as Total Stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, precise levels, and advanced data collectors.
  • Accurately record all field data, measurements, and critical observations utilizing appropriate instruments and established techniques.
  • Perform fundamental calculations and necessary adjustments of raw survey data under the direct supervision of senior personnel.
  • Aid in the comprehensive preparation of detailed survey reports, intricate maps, and precise drawings using industry-standard CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and other relevant geospatial tools.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all established safety protocols, industry regulations, and internal surveying standards across all project sites.
  • Collaborate effectively with project engineers, on-site construction teams, and other key stakeholders to provide essential and timely survey support.
  • Conduct routine equipment checks and thorough calibration procedures to guarantee optimal accuracy and functionality of all instruments.
  • Research, retrieve, and analyze existing survey records, historical maps, and other relevant geodetic documentation.
  • Actively participate in rigorous fieldwork, frequently involving diverse and challenging terrain, as well as varying weather conditions.

Required Skills

  • Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Surveying and Geo-informatics, Geomatics Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Fundamental understanding of core surveying principles, methodologies, and calculations.
  • Basic familiarity with standard surveying equipment (e.g., Total Stations, GPS receivers).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical aptitude and robust mathematical skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and unwavering commitment to accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform effectively both autonomously and as an integral part of a cohesive team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, essential for effective collaboration.
  • Adequate physical fitness and the capacity to work outdoors for extended durations in various environmental conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internship, industrial attachment (IT), or practical experience in a surveying, civil engineering, or construction environment (e.g., during NYSC).
  • Basic operational knowledge of CAD software (such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D) or other advanced mapping and GIS software.
  • Active membership or current pursuit of membership with a relevant professional body (e.g., Surveyors Council of Nigeria – SURCON).
  • Possession of a valid Nigerian Driver's License.
