Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Junior Freelance Content Writer with a strong focus on Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to join our dynamic communication efforts. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough keyword research to identify relevant topics and search terms for Bugesera District's online presence.
- Write, edit, and proofread high-quality, original content for the district's website, news portal, and social media channels.
- Optimize content for search engines (SEO) including meta descriptions, titles, headings, and internal/external linking.
- Collaborate with the communication team to understand content requirements and align with district's strategic messaging.
- Ensure all content adheres to brand guidelines, factual accuracy, and grammatical correctness.
- Contribute to content calendars and meet deadlines for assigned writing tasks.
- Monitor content performance and suggest improvements based on SEO analytics (where applicable and accessible).
- Stay updated with the latest SEO trends and content marketing best practices.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in content writing or copywriting, with a strong portfolio showcasing diverse writing styles.
- Solid understanding of SEO principles and experience with keyword research tools (e.g., Google Keyword Planner).
- Exceptional command of the English language, with impeccable grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Ability to research complex topics and translate them into engaging and easy-to-understand content.
- Proficiency in using content management systems (CMS) is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple writing projects simultaneously.
- Self-motivated, disciplined, and able to work independently to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, or a related field.
- Experience working in a government, non-profit, or public relations environment.
- Familiarity with the socio-economic and cultural landscape of Rwanda, particularly Bugesera District.
- Knowledge of Kinyarwanda is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Experience with analytics tools like Google Analytics.
