Key Responsibilities
- Assist audit seniors and managers with audit engagements, including planning, fieldwork, and finalisation.
- Prepare audit working papers and documentation in accordance with BDO's methodologies and auditing standards.
- Perform substantive testing on financial statement line items and analyse client financial data.
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of financial records, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Gain exposure to various accounting software and systems used by clients.
- Contribute to the identification of control weaknesses and communicate findings to senior team members.
- Adhere strictly to professional ethics, confidentiality, and data protection policies.
- Participate in client meetings and build professional relationships under supervision.
- Undertake continuous professional development and actively pursue the CA(SA) qualification.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a BCom Accounting or equivalent degree recognised by SAICA for the CA(SA) path.
- Strong academic record, demonstrating a solid understanding of accounting principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and a strong work ethic.
- South African citizen or permanent resident with valid work permits.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active participation in university societies or extracurricular activities.
- Prior vacation work or internship experience in an accounting or auditing environment.
