Key Responsibilities
- Assist in performing audit procedures, including testing internal controls and substantive testing of transactions and balances.
- Prepare and organize audit work papers and documentation in accordance with professional standards.
- Support senior auditors in verifying financial data and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
- Participate in client meetings and interviews to gather information and understand business processes.
- Reconcile accounts and assist in the preparation of financial statements and audit reports.
- Learn and apply auditing software and tools effectively under supervision.
- Perform administrative tasks as required by the audit team to ensure smooth operations.
- Continuously develop knowledge of auditing standards, tax regulations, and accounting best practices.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or currently pursuing final year).
- Strong foundational knowledge of accounting principles (e.g., GAAP/IFRS).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda.
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all tasks.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Demonstrated eagerness to learn, adaptability to new challenges, and a proactive approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior internship or volunteer experience in an accounting or finance department is a plus.
- Familiarity with audit software (e.g., CaseWare, QuickBooks Audit Tools) is advantageous.
- Basic understanding of tax regulations and financial reporting standards in Rwanda.
- CPA/ACCA student affiliate or expressed willingness to pursue professional certification.
