Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and skilled IT Support Officer to join our team at the Kwali branch in Abuja. This critical role involves providing first-level technical assistance and support to our staff, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all IT systems within the office. As an IT Support Officer, you will be the first point of contact for all IT-related queries, ranging from hardware and software troubleshooting to network connectivity issues. Your ability to diagnose problems swiftly, communicate effectively, and implement practical solutions will be paramount in minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.

This position requires a hands-on approach, excellent problem-solving skills, and a strong commitment to customer service. You will be responsible for maintaining our local IT infrastructure, including desktops, laptops, printers, and network devices, as well as providing support for our core banking applications and standard office software. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, capable of working independently, and eager to contribute to a collaborative team environment. Your contributions will directly impact our operational efficiency and the seamless delivery of services to our customers. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line IT support to all staff within the Kwali branch, addressing hardware, software, and network-related issues.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware (desktops, laptops, printers, scanners) and software applications.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues, including LAN/WAN and Wi-Fi, ensuring reliable internet access and internal communication.
  • Assist users with account management, password resets, and access permissions for various systems and applications.
  • Perform routine system checks, backups, and maintenance tasks to ensure data integrity and system reliability.
  • Document IT support requests, resolutions, and procedures in the helpdesk ticketing system.
  • Provide basic training and guidance to users on IT best practices and new software functionalities.
  • Collaborate with central IT teams for escalated issues, major system upgrades, and infrastructure changes.
  • Manage IT asset inventory, tracking hardware and software licenses.
  • Ensure compliance with the bank’s IT policies, security protocols, and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues on Windows operating systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Customer-centric approach with a commitment to providing high-quality support.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional, ITIL Foundation).
  • Experience working in the banking or financial services industry.
  • Knowledge of core banking applications or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
