Job Description
Jumia is seeking a highly meticulous and results-driven Inventory Control Specialist to join our dynamic operations team in Lagos, Nigeria. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in maintaining optimal inventory levels, ensuring accuracy across all warehouses, and supporting the seamless flow of products from our suppliers to our valued customers. The Inventory Control Specialist will be responsible for implementing and overseeing robust inventory management procedures, conducting thorough stock audits, and resolving discrepancies promptly. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability while minimizing excess and obsolescence.
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and reconciliations to maintain high levels of inventory accuracy.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Analyze inventory data, trends, and reports to forecast demand and make informed decisions on stock adjustments.
- Develop, implement, and enforce inventory control procedures and best practices across all warehouse operations.
- Collaborate closely with warehousing, logistics, procurement, and sales teams to optimize inventory flow and resolve related issues.
- Ensure accurate data entry and maintenance within the Warehouse Management System (WMS) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
- Prepare comprehensive inventory reports for management, highlighting key metrics, performance, and recommendations.
- Optimize storage space utilization and ensure efficient arrangement of products within the warehouse.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing inventory management efficiency and reducing operational costs.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in inventory management or a similar supply chain role.
- Proficiency in using Inventory Management Systems (IMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), or ERP software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis).
- Solid understanding of inventory control principles, supply chain dynamics, and logistics operations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience working in an e-commerce, retail, or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment.
- Certification in inventory management (e.g., CSCP, CPIM) or a related supply chain discipline.
- Familiarity with lean inventory practices and continuous improvement methodologies.
