Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Human Resources Officer to join our dynamic team in Grabouw, Western Cape. This hybrid role offers a blend of on-site presence at our operational facilities and the flexibility of remote work, ensuring you are deeply integrated into our daily operations while benefiting from a modern work-life balance. As an HR Officer, you will be instrumental in supporting the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding to employee relations and performance management. You will serve as a crucial link between management and employees, fostering a positive work culture and ensuring compliance with all labour regulations. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate HR records, assisting with policy implementation, coordinating training programs, and providing guidance on various HR-related matters. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, highly organised, and possess a keen eye for detail, ready to embrace the unique challenges and rewards of the agri-business sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and facilitating new employee onboarding.
- Administer HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with South African labour legislation and company standards.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee queries, providing guidance and support on HR-related issues.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, both physical and digital, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Assist in the coordination of performance management cycles, including performance appraisals and development plans.
- Facilitate and coordinate employee training and development initiatives.
- Support employee relations activities, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievance procedures.
- Prepare HR reports and analytics to support decision-making and strategic HR planning.
- Assist with payroll inputs, benefits administration, and leave management.
- Contribute to fostering a positive, productive, and inclusive work environment across all departments.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years' proven experience in a Human Resources Officer or similar role.
- Sound knowledge of South African labour legislation (e.g., LRA, BCEA, EE Act).
- Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Afrikaans.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate qualification in HR or a related field.
- HR certification (e.g., SARA, SABPP).
- Experience working within the agricultural, manufacturing, or FMCG sectors.
- Familiarity with various HR software and platforms specific to payroll and talent management.
