Are you a passionate and experienced HSE professional with a strong understanding of the oil and gas industry? Supersecrets Energy Ltd. is seeking a dedicated and proactive HSE Officer to join our dynamic team in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. This crucial role will involve supporting our diverse oil and gas projects, ensuring strict adherence to both local and international HSE standards, regulations, and company policies. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive HSE management systems and procedures in line with company policies, national, and international standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, API standards).
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards, non-compliance issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Lead and participate in incident investigations (accidents, near misses, environmental spills), determine root causes, and recommend preventative measures.
- Organize and deliver HSE training programs, workshops, and toolbox talks to all employees, contractors, and visitors, ensuring awareness and competence in safety practices.
- Prepare and maintain detailed HSE reports, records, and documentation, including incident logs, inspection reports, training records, and compliance documentation.
- Ensure emergency response plans are in place, regularly reviewed, and drilled, including fire safety, medical emergencies, and environmental spill containment.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with all relevant environmental regulations, promoting sustainable practices and waste management.
- Advise management on HSE-related issues, regulatory changes, and best practices to continually improve safety performance.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate HSE considerations into all phases of project planning and execution.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through communication campaigns, safety committees, and employee engagement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience as an HSE Officer, preferably within the Oil & Gas or heavy industrial sector.
- NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or equivalent HSE certification.
- Proficiency in conducting risk assessments (e.g., HAZID, HAZOP) and incident investigations.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian HSE regulations (e.g., DPR, NESREA, OSHE) and international standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver engaging training sessions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in challenging operational environments.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- NEBOSH International Diploma or Master's Degree in an HSE-related discipline.
- Certified Lead Auditor for ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001.
- Experience with HSE management software systems.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Membership in relevant professional bodies (e.g., ISPON, IOSH).
