Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and meticulous HR Officer to join our dynamic Human Resources team at our Sasolburg plant. This pivotal role involves providing comprehensive HR support to our employees and management, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all HR processes. The HR Officer will be instrumental in maintaining a positive work environment, promoting employee engagement, and ensuring compliance with all relevant labour legislation and company policies. You will be the first point of contact for many employee queries, offering guidance and support on a range of HR matters. This position requires a proactive individual with strong interpersonal skills, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of HR professionalism. You will contribute to various HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training coordination, and administrative tasks, all while upholding Omnia Fertilizer’s values of integrity, innovation, and people-centricity. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the end-to-end recruitment process, including job posting, screening applications, scheduling interviews, and conducting background checks.
  • Manage and maintain accurate employee records, both physical and digital, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Provide advice and guidance to employees and management on HR policies, procedures, and labour legislation (e.g., LRA, BCEA, EE Act).
  • Support employee relations by assisting with grievance procedures, disciplinary hearings, and conflict resolution.
  • Facilitate new employee onboarding, ensuring a smooth integration into the company culture and processes.
  • Coordinate and track employee training and development initiatives.
  • Liaise with the payroll department to ensure accurate and timely processing of salaries, benefits, and statutory deductions.
  • Assist in the administration of performance management processes and employee benefits programs.
  • Prepare HR reports and analytics as required by management.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR processes and initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the HR function.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or National Diploma in Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an HR Officer or in a similar HR generalist role, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of South African labour legislation (LRA, BCEA, EE Act, SDA, etc.).
  • Proficiency in HR Information Systems (HRIS) and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with acute attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant HR certification (e.g., SABPP registration).
  • Experience with SAP HR module or similar integrated HR platforms.
  • Proven experience in a heavy industrial, chemical, or agricultural manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to speak multiple official South African languages, specifically Afrikaans or Sesotho, would be an advantage.
