Job Description

We are actively seeking a highly skilled, motivated, and experienced HR Generalist to enrich our dynamic Human Resources team at Northwest Health – Porter. This pivotal role will be instrumental in providing essential support to our dedicated staff and ensuring the seamless operation of various HR functions within our fast-paced and critically important healthcare environment. The HR Generalist will serve as a crucial interface between management and employees, skillfully addressing a wide range of inquiries, diligently resolving workplace issues, and providing expert guidance on company policies, procedures, and best practices. Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, and general employment matters.
  • Manage and resolve a broad spectrum of employee relations issues, conducting thorough investigations as necessary and ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant application of company policies.
  • Assist with the full-cycle recruitment process, including crafting compelling job postings, meticulous candidate screening, active participation in interviews, and facilitating seamless new hire onboarding experiences.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including but not limited to FMLA, ADA, EEO, and Workers' Compensation.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date employee records and HR information systems (HRIS) with impeccable data integrity.
  • Administer various HR programs and initiatives, including performance management cycles, compensation reviews, and employee recognition programs.
  • Support the annual benefits enrollment process, act as a knowledgeable liaison between employees and benefit providers, and assist with benefits-related questions.
  • Assist in the strategic development and implementation of new HR policies, procedures, and relevant training programs for employees and management.
  • Actively participate in HR projects and cross-functional initiatives aimed at continuously improving HR efficiency, enhancing employee engagement, and supporting organizational development.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to managers on a wide array of HR-related topics, including effective performance management, disciplinary actions, and talent development.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of progressive, hands-on experience as an HR Generalist, with a strong preference for experience within the healthcare industry.
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of HR best practices, principles, and federal/state/local employment laws.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills, with a proven ability to build rapport.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain absolute confidentiality and handle highly sensitive information with the utmost discretion and professionalism.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced, and demanding environment.
  • Superior organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SHRM-CP or HRCI (PHR/SPHR) certification.
  • Experience with Kronos HRIS or similar integrated human capital management systems.
  • Specific knowledge of healthcare-specific HR regulations, accreditation standards, and challenges.
