Are you an organised, meticulous, and compassionate individual with a keen interest in human resources? Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated HR Administrator to join our dynamic and supportive Human Resources team. This pivotal role provides comprehensive administrative support across various HR functions, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our department, which is crucial for supporting our vital healthcare services.

As an HR Administrator, you will be at the heart of our HR operations, contributing significantly to the employee lifecycle from recruitment to departure. Your daily responsibilities will span a wide range of tasks, including managing employee records with utmost confidentiality and accuracy, processing new starter documentation, coordinating induction programmes, and assisting with various HR projects. You will be a key point of contact for staff queries, providing timely and accurate information on HR policies, procedures, and benefits.

You will need to be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook, and capable of quickly learning new HR information systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the HR department, including data entry, filing, and general correspondence.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Process new starter paperwork, including offer letters, contracts, and pre-employment checks.
  • Assist with the coordination of induction programmes for new employees.
  • Respond to HR-related queries from staff and managers, providing accurate information and signposting where necessary.
  • Support the recruitment process by scheduling interviews, preparing interview packs, and managing applicant communications.
  • Assist in the preparation of HR reports and statistical data.
  • Contribute to HR projects and initiatives as required.
  • Ensure compliance with Trust policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Manage HR mailboxes and incoming communications efficiently.

Required Skills

  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and task management.
  • Good time management skills with the ability to prioritise workload.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an administrative role, preferably within a Human Resources department.
  • Experience working within the NHS or a large public sector organisation.
  • Knowledge of HR principles and best practices.
  • Relevant administrative qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Business Administration).
