Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Housekeeping Supervisor to join our dynamic team at Lake Kivu Serena Hotel. This pivotal role is essential for maintaining the pristine appearance and impeccable cleanliness standards that our luxury guests expect and deserve. As a Housekeeping Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our housekeeping department, ensuring that all guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities consistently meet the highest standards of hygiene, tidiness, and aesthetic appeal. You will lead, inspire, and develop a team of housekeeping attendants, fostering a positive and productive work environment while ensuring efficient resource allocation and adherence to all hotel policies and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, strong leadership capabilities, and an unwavering commitment to guest satisfaction. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the housekeeping team, including room attendants, public area attendants, and laundry staff.
- Inspect guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas to ensure compliance with Lake Kivu Serena Hotel’s cleanliness and maintenance standards.
- Train new housekeeping staff and provide ongoing coaching and development to existing team members.
- Manage inventory of linens, cleaning supplies, and guest amenities, ensuring adequate stock levels and minimizing waste.
- Develop and implement efficient cleaning schedules and procedures to maximize productivity and maintain high standards.
- Address guest requests and complaints promptly and professionally, ensuring satisfactory resolution.
- Monitor and maintain all housekeeping equipment, reporting any malfunctions or repair needs.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and hygiene regulations, including proper handling of chemicals and waste disposal.
- Assist in the preparation of departmental reports, including room status, occupancy, and lost and found items.
- Collaborate with other hotel departments, such as Front Office and Maintenance, to ensure seamless operations and guest satisfaction.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within a luxury hotel housekeeping department.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to cleanliness and hygiene.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to train, motivate, and manage a diverse team effectively.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of various cleaning techniques, products, and equipment.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to handle challenging situations with composure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Hospitality Management or a related field.
- Proficiency in Kinyarwanda and/or French.
- Experience with hotel property management systems (PMS) and housekeeping management software.
- Knowledge of eco-friendly cleaning practices and sustainability initiatives.
- First Aid and Safety certification.
