Key Responsibilities
- Clean and service assigned guest rooms daily according to established hotel standards of cleanliness, efficiency, and safety.
- Ensure all public areas, including lobbies, hallways, restrooms, conference facilities, and dining areas, are consistently kept clean, tidy, and presentable.
- Replenish all amenities, linens, and supplies in guest rooms as per standard operating procedures.
- Perform meticulous bed making, including changing bed linens and towels, ensuring high presentation standards.
- Execute thorough cleaning tasks such as vacuuming carpets, sweeping and mopping hard floors, dusting furniture, fixtures, and surfaces.
- Promptly report any maintenance issues, damages, safety hazards, or missing items to the housekeeping supervisor or relevant department.
- Handle guest requests and inquiries courteously, efficiently, and professionally, escalating complex or unusual situations when necessary.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, including proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals and safe operation of equipment.
- Maintain a friendly, respectful, and professional demeanor with guests, colleagues, and all hotel visitors at all times.
- Assist with laundry operations as needed, ensuring a consistent supply of clean and fresh linens is available.
- Participate actively in daily team briefings, training sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 12 months proven experience as a Housekeeper or in a similar cleaning role within the hospitality sector.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as a valued member of a team.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high standard of thoroughness in all cleaning and presentation tasks.
- Excellent time management skills and the proven ability to prioritise tasks and meet demanding deadlines.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks requiring lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and prolonged standing.
- Basic understanding and practical knowledge of various cleaning chemicals, methods, and equipment usage.
- Highly reliable and punctual with an impeccable attendance record and a strong, proactive work ethic.
- Clear and effective verbal communication skills for interacting with guests and colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience specifically within a 4-star or 5-star hotel environment.
- In-depth knowledge of advanced cleaning methods, sanitation standards, and infection control protocols.
- Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of additional local languages (e.g., Afrikaans, isiZulu) is a significant advantage.
