Key Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain guest rooms and bathrooms to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene, including making beds, dusting, vacuuming, polishing, and sanitizing all surfaces.
- Replenish guest room amenities, linens, and supplies according to hotel standards and guest preferences.
- Inspect rooms for maintenance issues, reporting any damages, malfunctions, or necessary repairs promptly to the supervisor or engineering department.
- Manage and organize linen closets and storage areas, ensuring proper inventory, cleanliness, and accessibility.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations and procedures, including the proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Handle guest requests and complaints courteously and efficiently, escalating complex issues to management when necessary to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Ensure all lost and found items are properly logged, secured, and handled according to hotel policy.
- Work collaboratively with other hotel departments such as Front Office and Maintenance to ensure a seamless and positive guest experience.
- Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor with guests and colleagues at all times, upholding the hotel's reputation for excellent service.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in housekeeping or a similar role, preferably within a hotel or hospitality environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high standard of cleanliness and presentation.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks.
- Good physical stamina and ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting (up to 25 lbs), pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of health, safety, and hygiene regulations and practices.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a cohesive team.
- Basic verbal communication skills in English to interact with guests and colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Certification in hospitality or housekeeping management.
- Experience with industrial cleaning equipment and products.
- Familiarity with Marriott International brand standards and operating procedures.
- Additional language proficiency (e.g., isiZulu, Afrikaans).
