Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and highly personable Hotel Bell Attendant and Guest Service Specialist to join our dedicated team at Africa Rising Guesthouse. This pivotal role is often the first and last point of contact for our cherished guests, making you an indispensable ambassador of our hospitality. As a Bell Attendant, you will be instrumental in setting a positive tone for our guests’ entire stay, providing a seamless arrival and departure experience, and offering attentive assistance throughout their visit.
Your responsibilities will extend beyond simply handling luggage; you will be a fount of local knowledge, a helpful guide, and a proactive problem-solver. You’ll assist guests with their queries, provide directions, recommend local attractions and dining options in Umlazi and the greater Durban area, and ensure their needs are met with efficiency and a genuine smile. This role requires an individual with exceptional interpersonal skills, a strong work ethic, and the physical capability to assist with luggage and other guest requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Warmly greet all guests upon arrival and departure, offering immediate assistance with luggage and transportation.
- Efficiently transport guest luggage to and from rooms, ensuring items are handled with care and delivered promptly.
- Provide accurate and helpful information about guesthouse facilities, services, and local attractions in Umlazi and the surrounding areas.
- Assist guests with general inquiries, directions, and special requests, escalating complex issues to the appropriate department.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming lobby area, ensuring a positive first impression for all visitors.
- Coordinate with the front desk and other departments to facilitate smooth guest transitions and resolve any service challenges.
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and deliveries for guests, ensuring proper record-keeping.
- Assist in summoning taxis or other transportation services for guests, providing clear instructions and assistance.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

- Good physical stamina and ability to lift and carry luggage (up to 25 kg).
