Key Responsibilities
- Safely and compassionately transport patients (in wheelchairs, beds, or on foot) to and from wards, clinics, theatres, and other departments.
- Move medical equipment, beds, furniture, supplies, and general goods efficiently and carefully throughout the hospital.
- Deliver pathology specimens, blood products, pharmacy items, and confidential patient records to designated areas.
- Manage and transport waste, clinical waste, and soiled linen according to strict infection control policies.
- Assist with the respectful and dignified transfer of deceased patients to the mortuary.
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and critical situations, such as cardiac arrests or fire alarms, as part of the wider hospital response team.
- Ensure all areas and equipment used for transport are kept clean, tidy, and fit for purpose, reporting any faults or damage.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, manual handling procedures, and hospital policies and procedures at all times.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and act with professionalism and empathy in all interactions.
