The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety programs tailored to the unique risks of an industrial environment, including manufacturing, logistics, and heavy machinery operations. You will act as a key advisor to management and employees on all H&S matters, driving continuous improvement in safety performance and fostering a proactive approach to risk management. This position offers a challenging yet rewarding opportunity for a dedicated safety professional to make a significant impact on workplace safety and operational efficiency within a dynamic industrial setting. • Conduct regular site inspections and audits across the industrial estate to identify potential hazards and non-compliance issues.
  • Perform detailed risk assessments for various industrial operations, processes, and equipment, recommending and implementing control measures.
  • Lead and facilitate incident investigations, identify root causes, and develop corrective and preventative actions to avoid recurrence.
  • Organize and deliver effective health and safety training programs for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all relevant local and federal health and safety legislation (e.g., Factories Act, OSHA guidelines where applicable).
  • Prepare and present regular HSE performance reports to management, including incident statistics, audit findings, and compliance status.
  • Manage emergency preparedness and response plans, including fire safety, first aid, and evacuation procedures.
  • Advise management on best practices for industrial safety, environmental protection, and occupational health.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through awareness campaigns, safety meetings, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records of all safety-related documentation, including permits, certifications, and training logs.

Required Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of Nigerian HSE legislation and international safety standards (e.g., ISO 45001).
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and hazard identification.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective safety training programs.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification such as NEBOSH IGC/Diploma, OSHA, or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Safety Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001).
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Experience working with diverse teams in a fast-paced industrial setting.
