Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor occupational health and safety programs and policies in alignment with local regulations and international standards.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments across various industrial units within the estate to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near misses, determine root causes, and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
- Organize and deliver comprehensive health and safety training sessions for staff, contractors, and visitors on topics such as emergency procedures, safe work practices, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensure strict compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation and corporate requirements.
- Maintain detailed records of safety inspections, incident reports, training activities, and safety audit findings.
- Advise management on safety-related issues, providing expert guidance on best practices and emerging risks.
- Manage the implementation and maintenance of emergency preparedness plans, including fire safety, first aid, and evacuation procedures.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through awareness campaigns, safety committees, and regular communication.
- Oversee waste management and environmental compliance within the industrial estate.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Health & Safety Officer in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of Nigerian occupational health and safety regulations (e.g., Factories Act, NSITF Act).
- Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and hazard identification.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to conduct thorough incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver engaging safety training programs.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Industrial Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
