Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive Health & Safety policies and procedures in line with national and international standards.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections across the industrial estate to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
- Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near-misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective and preventive actions.
- Develop and deliver effective H&S training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors, covering topics such as emergency response, hazardous material handling, and safe machinery operation.
- Ensure all statutory H&S requirements are met, preparing and submitting relevant reports to regulatory bodies.
- Promote a strong safety culture through awareness campaigns, safety committees, and proactive engagement with all levels of staff.
- Manage and maintain accurate H&S records, documentation, and reporting systems.
- Advise management on best practices for H&S, including equipment safety, ergonomics, and environmental protection.
- Liaise with external agencies, emergency services, and regulatory authorities as required.
- Monitor contractor safety performance and ensure adherence to site-specific H&S requirements.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Health & Safety Officer in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of Nigerian H&S legislation and regulations (e.g., Factories Act, OSHA standards).
- Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and incident investigation techniques.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and deliver engaging safety training.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification such as NEBOSH IGC, ISPON, or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems).
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Experience managing safety in a multi-tenant industrial estate.
