As the Health & Safety Officer for this industrial estate, you will be at the forefront of identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks inherent to various industrial activities, including manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, and maintenance. Your daily responsibilities will span conducting thorough risk assessments, carrying out regular site inspections to ensure compliance, and leading incident investigations to determine root causes and prevent recurrence. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive Health & Safety Management Systems (HSMS).
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with H&S regulations and policies.
- Perform detailed risk assessments and job safety analyses (JSAs) for various industrial activities.
- Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near-misses, determining root causes and recommending effective corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver engaging H&S training programs for all levels of personnel within the estate.
- Advise management and tenant companies on H&S best practices and compliance requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of H&S activities, incidents, and training.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with regulations.
- Develop and implement robust emergency response plans and conduct regular drills.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through awareness campaigns and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor and report on key H&S performance metrics to stakeholders.
- Collaborate effectively with regulatory bodies and external safety auditors during inspections.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an H&S Officer, preferably within an industrial, manufacturing, or estate management environment.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian H&S regulations and international standards (e.g., ISO 45001).
- Proficiency in conducting thorough risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
