Job Description
Career.supersecrets is seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Officer for a prominent industrial estate in Kuje, Abuja. This pivotal role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring robust H&S policies and procedures, ensuring a safe, healthy, and compliant working environment. You will conduct risk assessments, promote a proactive safety culture, and ensure adherence to local and international regulations. The ideal candidate brings proven industrial experience, balancing operational efficiency and safety excellence. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive H&S management systems and policies.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections.
- Investigate all incidents, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Organize and deliver engaging safety training programs.
- Ensure strict adherence to all relevant occupational health and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of safety activities, incidents, and training.
- Advise management on H&S best practices and legislative changes.
- Coordinate with emergency services during crisis situations.
- Promote a strong safety culture through awareness campaigns.
Required Skills
- Proven H&S Officer experience (industrial/manufacturing).
- In-depth knowledge of H&S regulations (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH, IOSH).
- Strong understanding of risk assessment and hazard identification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in incident investigation and reporting.
- Ability to develop and deliver effective safety training.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
- NEBOSH IGC or equivalent safety qualification.
- Membership in a professional safety organization.
- Experience with ISO 45001.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
