Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive Health & Safety Management Systems (HSMS) aligned with national and international standards.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections across the industrial estate to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
- Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near-misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Organize and deliver health and safety training programs for all employees, ensuring awareness and adherence to safety protocols.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date record-keeping of all safety-related documentation, including incident reports, training records, and inspection logs.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and external auditors to ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety legislation.
- Advise management on best practices for health and safety, recommending proactive measures to enhance workplace safety culture and performance.
- Prepare detailed reports on safety performance, trends, and incidents for management review.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Health & Safety Officer in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- In-depth knowledge of Nigerian health and safety legislation (e.g., Factories Act, OSHA).
- Strong understanding of risk assessment and hazard identification methodologies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver safety training programs.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or equivalent certification.
