Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive Health & Safety policies and procedures in line with national and international standards within the industrial estate.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, non-compliance issues, and areas for improvement.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Deliver effective health and safety training programs to employees and contractors, ensuring awareness and adherence to safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant local and national occupational health and safety legislation and regulations (e.g., Factories Act, OSHA).
- Advise management on best practices for health and safety, including new regulations and technologies.
- Prepare and present detailed health and safety reports, statistics, and performance metrics to management.
- Manage and maintain safety documentation, including risk assessments, method statements, and permits to work.
- Collaborate with emergency services and internal teams to develop and test emergency response plans.
- Promote a positive safety culture through proactive engagement, communication, and reward systems.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Health & Safety Officer in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian occupational health and safety legislation and standards.
- Proficiency in conducting risk assessments, hazard identification, and incident investigation.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and deliver effective safety training programs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Safety Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional membership with relevant safety bodies (e.g., IOSH, ISPON).
- Experience with ISO 45001 implementation and auditing.
