We are looking for a proactive and experienced professional who possesses a deep understanding of occupational health and safety principles within an industrial setting. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring H&S policies and procedures, conducting regular risk assessments, and leading incident investigations. Your role will involve close collaboration with all levels of management and staff to embed safety best practices, deliver comprehensive training programs, and ensure a continuous improvement approach to health and safety management. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor occupational health and safety policies and procedures in line with national regulations and international best practices.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, determining root causes and implementing preventative measures.
- Organize and deliver regular health and safety training programs for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards.
- Prepare and maintain detailed safety records, reports, and documentation.
- Advise management on safety-related issues, including new equipment, processes, and facility modifications.
- Manage emergency preparedness plans and coordinate emergency response drills.
- Promote a positive safety culture through effective communication and engagement with all stakeholders.
- Oversee the proper use and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Required Skills
- NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or equivalent certification.
- Proven experience in Health & Safety management within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian Occupational Health and Safety legislation and regulations.
- Proficiency in conducting risk assessments, hazard identification, and incident investigation.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and deliver effective safety training programs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Safety Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Membership in a recognized professional safety body (e.g., IOSH, ISPON).
- Experience with ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.
- Familiarity with environmental protection regulations.
- First Aid and Fire Safety certification.
