We are seeking a highly competent and proactive Health & Safety Officer to champion a culture of safety and ensure rigorous compliance with all relevant occupational health and safety (OHS) legislation and company policies. This professional role is critical in fostering a secure working environment across all operational facets of the industrial estate, encompassing manufacturing processes, equipment operation, and general facility management. The successful candidate will be instrumental in identifying potential hazards, implementing effective control measures, and continuously improving safety protocols to prevent incidents and promote employee well-being.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor occupational health and safety programs and policies.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with OHS regulations and company standards.
- Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and recommend corrective and preventative actions.
- Organize and deliver comprehensive safety training for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Prepare and present detailed OHS reports to management, including incident statistics, safety performance, and compliance status.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training, and corrective actions.
- Advise management on current and emerging OHS legislation, best practices, and industry trends.
- Ensure the proper use, maintenance, and availability of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Oversee emergency preparedness plans, including fire drills, first aid, and evacuation procedures.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through awareness campaigns and employee engagement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in occupational health and safety management within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Thorough knowledge of Nigerian OHS legislation (e.g., Factories Act, NSITF Act) and international safety standards.
- Excellent analytical skills for hazard identification and risk assessment.
- Strong incident investigation and root cause analysis capabilities.
- Proficiency in developing and delivering engaging safety training programs.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across all levels of an organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated ability to maintain meticulous records and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification (e.g., NEBOSH IGC, OSHA, IOSH Managing Safely).
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with safety management systems (e.g., ISO 45001).
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience in a heavily regulated industrial sector (e.g., heavy manufacturing, chemical processing).
