Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor robust Health & Safety policies and procedures in accordance with national and international standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, non-compliance issues, and areas for improvement, documenting findings thoroughly.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and ensure effective corrective and preventive actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.
- Provide comprehensive H&S training and inductions to all employees, contractors, and visitors, fostering a strong safety-first culture.
- Maintain accurate H&S records, prepare detailed reports for management, and manage all relevant documentation for regulatory compliance.
- Stay abreast of changes in H&S legislation and industry best practices, ensuring the industrial estate remains fully compliant and proactive.
- Develop and manage emergency response plans, including fire safety, medical emergencies, and evacuation procedures.
- Collaborate with management and employees to promote continuous improvement in health and safety performance across the estate.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Health & Safety Officer, preferably within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of Nigerian H&S legislation and international safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001).
- Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and incident investigation techniques.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Industrial Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH Managing Safely, or equivalent.
