Job Description
RAK Ceramics is seeking a dedicated and experienced Health & Safety Officer to join our dynamic team in Ras Al Khaimah. This crucial role is instrumental in ensuring a safe working environment across our manufacturing facilities and offices, aligning with our unwavering commitment to employee well-being and operational excellence. As a Health & Safety Officer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with local regulations and international standards. You will play a pivotal role in identifying potential hazards, assessing risks, and implementing control measures to prevent accidents, injuries, and occupational illnesses. This position requires a proactive individual with a strong understanding of industrial safety practices, a keen eye for detail, and excellent communication skills to foster a culture of safety among all employees. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies and procedures in line with UAE regulations and international best practices (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH).
- Conduct regular risk assessments and safety inspections across all company premises, identifying potential hazards and recommending corrective actions.
- Lead and conduct incident investigations, determining root causes and implementing preventative measures to avoid recurrence.
- Organise and deliver comprehensive health and safety training programs for employees at all levels, ensuring awareness and adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training, and compliance activities.
- Ensure the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Monitor contractor safety performance and ensure compliance with company safety requirements.
- Liaise with external regulatory bodies and ensure all necessary permits and licenses are up to date.
- Advise management on health and safety matters, providing expert guidance on compliance and improvement initiatives.
- Promote a positive safety culture through awareness campaigns, safety committees, and employee engagement programs.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Health & Safety Officer in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of UAE OSHAD/EHS regulations and international health and safety standards (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH, IOSH).
- Strong understanding of risk assessment, hazard identification, and incident investigation methodologies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to conduct effective safety training sessions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in ISO 45001 implementation and auditing.
- First Aid and Fire Safety certification.
- Fluency in Arabic is a plus.
