Job Description
Garki Hospital is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health Informatics Specialist to join our growing team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in optimizing our healthcare data management systems, ensuring data integrity, and contributing to strategic decision-making. This role requires a strong understanding of health information technology, data analysis, and the ability to collaborate effectively with clinicians and administrative staff. You will be involved in the design, implementation, and maintenance of electronic health records (EHRs), data analytics projects to improve patient care and operational efficiency, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of data privacy regulations, such as HIPAA and Nigeria’s data protection laws, demonstrating a keen eye for detail and strong problem-solving skills. This is a pivotal role that will directly impact the quality of care we deliver and our organizational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain electronic health record (EHR) systems and other health information technologies.
- Develop and implement data quality control measures to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
- Conduct data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can improve patient care and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with clinicians and other healthcare professionals to identify and address data-related challenges.
- Develop and deliver training programs to staff on the use of health information technologies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy regulations and standards.
- Participate in the development and implementation of health information technology strategies.
- Develop and maintain system documentation.
- Stay current with advancements in health information technology.
- Support the organization’s efforts in adopting new technologies, data analytics strategies, and patient care advancements.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in health information technology
- Strong understanding of EHR systems
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations (HIPAA, Nigeria's Data Protection Laws)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Proficiency in SQL and other database management systems
- Experience with data visualization tools

Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Health Informatics or a related field
- Certification in Health Informatics
- Experience with specific EHR software (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
