Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine lawn maintenance, including mowing, edging, weeding, and fertilising.
- Prune shrubs, trees, and hedges to maintain shape and promote healthy growth.
- Plant and maintain flowerbeds, borders, and other garden features.
- Manage irrigation systems, ensuring efficient watering practices.
- Conduct pest and disease control, identifying issues and applying appropriate treatments.
- Maintain pathways, driveways, and other hardscaped areas, ensuring cleanliness and safety.
- Operate and maintain gardening equipment and machinery safely and effectively.
- Undertake seasonal tasks such as leaf blowing, snow removal (if applicable), and winterisation of plants.
- Monitor and report on the condition of grounds, identifying areas requiring attention or improvement.
- Assist with larger landscaping projects and enhancements as directed.
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Groundskeeper or in a similar horticultural role.
- Proficiency in operating various gardening tools and machinery (mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers).
- Solid understanding of plant care, common pests, and diseases.
- Knowledge of health and safety practices relevant to grounds maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high standards.
- Valid UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 in Amenity Horticulture, Landscaping, or a related field.
- PA1/PA6 certification for chemical application.
- Experience with irrigation system management.
- Basic carpentry or maintenance skills for outdoor structures.
- First Aid certification.
