As a Green Building Design Engineer at Amstein + Walthert, you will play a pivotal role in designing, analyzing, and optimizing high-performance, sustainable buildings. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and analysis of energy-efficient building systems (HVAC, lighting, renewables).
- Develop comprehensive sustainable design strategies and energy concepts for new and existing buildings.
- Perform advanced energy simulations, daylighting analysis, and thermal comfort studies using specialized software.
- Advise clients and project teams on green building certifications (e.g., LEED, BREEAM, Minergie, SNBS) and compliance with national and international sustainability standards.
- Conduct life-cycle assessments (LCA) and evaluate the environmental impact of material choices.
- Collaborate with architects, civil engineers, and other specialists to ensure integrated sustainable design solutions.
- Prepare detailed reports, technical specifications, and presentations for various stakeholders.
- Stay abreast of the latest trends, technologies, and regulations in green building and sustainable development.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal design processes and knowledge sharing.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in sustainable building design, energy consulting, or building performance analysis.
- Proficiency in energy modeling software (e.g., IESVE, EnergyPlus, TRNSYS, IDA ICE).
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, building physics, and renewable energy technologies.
- Familiarity with green building rating systems (e.g., LEED, BREEAM, Minergie, SNBS).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Fluent in English, with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
- Professional certification such as LEED AP, BREEAM Assessor, or Minergie Specialist.
- Proficiency in German or French (strong asset for client interaction in Switzerland).
