Job Description

As a Global Mobility Specialist at Sony Corporation, you will be at the forefront of facilitating our international talent movement, playing a critical role in supporting our diverse and dynamic global workforce. You will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of global assignments, from initiation to repatriation, ensuring a smooth and positive experience for employees and their families transitioning across international borders. This includes providing expert guidance on global mobility policies, processes, immigration requirements, tax implications, and compensation structures tailored for international assignments. You will serve as a primary point of contact and trusted advisor for relocating employees, HR business partners, and business leaders, offering comprehensive support and clear communication throughout the assignment period. Your daily activities will involve navigating complex regulatory landscapes, coordinating with a network of trusted third-party vendors (e.g., immigration attorneys, tax advisors, relocation services providers), and ensuring all aspects of the mobility process adhere to both company policy and local and international legal compliance. This role demands exceptional organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving within a high-volume, fast-paced global environment. You will also contribute to identifying opportunities for process improvement, cost optimization, and enhancing the overall effectiveness of our global mobility programs, directly impacting Sony’s strategic talent initiatives and fostering a truly global and interconnected workforce. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end global relocation cases, including pre-assignment, on-assignment, and repatriation phases.
  • Act as a primary point of contact and provide expert guidance to employees, HR Business Partners, and managers on global mobility policies, processes, and benefits.
  • Coordinate with external vendors (immigration, tax, relocation, temporary housing, household goods shipping) to ensure timely and compliant service delivery.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant immigration, tax, social security, and labor laws in various jurisdictions.
  • Review and process assignment-related compensation, benefits, and expenses, ensuring accuracy and adherence to policy.
  • Prepare assignment letters, cost projections, and other mobility-related documentation.
  • Participate in policy review and development, identifying opportunities for process enhancements and cost efficiencies.
  • Maintain accurate records and data within the global mobility tracking system/HRIS.
  • Provide reporting and analytics on mobility trends, costs, and effectiveness.
  • Stay updated on global mobility best practices and regulatory changes.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Global Mobility, International HR, or Expatriate Management.
  • Strong understanding of international immigration processes and requirements.
  • Knowledge of expatriate compensation, tax equalization, and social security implications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advise and influence diverse stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, capable of managing multiple complex cases simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, global, and multicultural environment.
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, SAP SuccessFactors) and global mobility management software.
  • Global Mobility Specialist (GMS) or Certified Relocation Professional (CRP) designation.
  • Proficiency in Japanese language (JLPT N2 or higher) to facilitate local interactions.
  • Experience working in a large multinational corporation.
