This critical role is central to our mission of discovering, appraising, and developing Kuwait’s vast hydrocarbon resources. The successful candidate will be instrumental in conducting detailed subsurface geological studies, interpreting complex geological data, and providing expert insights to optimize drilling and production strategies. You will contribute significantly to the generation of new prospects, evaluate existing fields, and ensure the geological integrity of our operations from exploration through to development. Working within a multidisciplinary team of geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and drilling specialists, you will integrate various data sets to build robust geological models and support informed decision-making. This position offers an exciting opportunity to leverage your expertise in a world-class environment, contributing directly to projects that underpin Kuwait’s economic prosperity and energy security, while operating with cutting-edge technology and best-in-class practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed interpretation of 2D and 3D seismic data to identify potential hydrocarbon traps, delineate reservoirs, and understand complex structural and stratigraphic frameworks.
  • Perform comprehensive well log analysis for lithology identification, petrophysical property evaluation, and correlation studies across various fields and basins.
  • Develop and update geological maps, cross-sections, and sequence stratigraphic frameworks to enhance subsurface understanding.
  • Construct and maintain robust geological models (static models) using specialized software, integrating seismic, well log, core, and production data.
  • Identify, evaluate, and risk new exploration prospects and infill drilling opportunities to grow hydrocarbon reserves.
  • Provide expert geological support during drilling operations, including well planning, real-time geosteering, and comprehensive post-drill evaluation.
  • Collaborate effectively with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and drilling engineers to ensure integrated subsurface understanding and seamless project delivery.
  • Prepare comprehensive geological reports, presentations, and technical recommendations for various stakeholders, including management and partners.
  • Stay abreast of new geological technologies, methodologies, and industry best practices to continuously enhance operational efficiency and discovery rates.
  • Participate in peer reviews and technical workshops to ensure quality and consistency of geological interpretations.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a closely related field from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 4 years of proven experience as a Geologist in the upstream oil and gas industry, with a strong focus on hydrocarbons.
  • Proficiency in geological interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, DecisionSpace Geosciences, Kingdom Suite).
  • Strong understanding of seismic interpretation principles, well log analysis, and petrophysics.
  • Solid knowledge of structural geology, sedimentology, sequence stratigraphy, and reservoir characterization.
  • Demonstrated experience in static reservoir modeling.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in a multidisciplinary and multicultural team environment.
  • Ability to generate high-quality technical reports and deliver compelling presentations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Geology or a related specialized field (e.g., Petroleum Geology, Reservoir Geology).
  • Experience with Kuwaiti geological basins and their specific reservoir characteristics.
  • Advanced skills in specialized software modules for advanced seismic interpretation (e.g., quantitative interpretation, inversion) or unconventional reservoir characterization.
  • Familiarity with prospect risk assessment and volumetric estimation workflows, including probabilistic methods.
  • Experience in carbonate geology and fractured reservoir characterization.

Perks & Benefits

  • Highly competitive, tax-free salary package.
  • Comprehensive health and dental insurance for employees and eligible dependents.
  • Generous annual leave and public holidays, promoting work-life balance.
  • Housing allowance or company-provided accommodation to support relocation.
