Job Description
Western Refining is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Geologist to join our team in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our exploration and production activities. The Geologist will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, from geological data analysis and interpretation to field work and well site support. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct geological data analysis and interpretation using various software packages.
- Develop and interpret subsurface maps and cross-sections.
- Perform reservoir characterization and modeling.
- Support well planning and drilling activities.
- Participate in field work, including geological mapping and sample collection.
- Prepare geological reports and presentations.
- Collaborate with other professionals to develop and implement exploration and production strategies.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest geological technologies and techniques.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of sedimentary geology, structural geology, and petroleum systems.
- Proficiency in geological software packages (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom, etc.).
- Experience in subsurface mapping and reservoir characterization.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Geology or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Experience with well log analysis and interpretation.
- Experience with geostatistical analysis.
- Professional Geologist license (PG).
