Job Description
Savills is seeking a diligent and vigilant Gatekeeper/Gate Man to join our team, ensuring the security and smooth operation of a prestigious property in London. This pivotal on-site role is essential for maintaining the safety and access control of the premises, providing a visible and reassuring presence to residents, visitors, and staff. As the first point of contact, you will be responsible for managing all entry and exit points, verifying credentials, and assisting with enquiries in a professional and courteous manner. Your proactive approach to security and commitment to exceptional service will be critical in upholding the high standards expected at our managed properties. This role requires an individual who is not only observant and reliable but also possesses excellent communication skills and a friendly disposition. You will be instrumental in creating a secure, welcoming, and orderly environment, contributing directly to the overall reputation and operational efficiency of the estate.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor all access points, including vehicle and pedestrian gates, ensuring only authorised individuals and vehicles enter the premises.
- Verify identification and credentials of visitors, contractors, and deliveries in accordance with established security protocols.
- Maintain accurate logs of all incoming and outgoing personnel and vehicles, including timestamps and purpose of visit.
- Conduct regular patrols of the immediate gate area to identify and report any suspicious activity, security breaches, or potential hazards.
- Operate and monitor CCTV systems, alarms, and other security equipment relevant to gate operations.
- Provide clear and concise directions and information to visitors, ensuring a positive and professional first impression.
- Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, incidents, or emergencies, following predefined procedures and escalating as necessary.
- Enforce site rules and regulations, ensuring compliance from all individuals entering or exiting the property.
- Assist with the controlled movement of traffic and parking management around the gate area.
- Liaise effectively with site management, security teams, and emergency services when required.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe gatehouse environment.
- Complete detailed incident reports and daily activity logs as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a security, concierge, or similar gatekeeper role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Basic computer literacy for logging and reporting.
- A strong sense of responsibility and integrity.
- Physical fitness to perform duties including patrols and standing for extended periods.
- Understanding of basic security procedures and protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid SIA (Security Industry Authority) Door Supervisor or Security Guarding Licence.
- Previous experience working in a prestigious residential or commercial property in London.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- First Aid certification.
- Customer service training or certification.
