Celtic Landscapes is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Gardener’s Assistant to join our growing team. You will play a crucial role in assisting with the creation, maintenance, and enhancement of diverse green spaces across a variety of client properties, from intricate private gardens to expansive commercial grounds.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior gardeners with a wide range of tasks including planting, pruning, weeding, mulching, watering, and general garden tidying, ensuring all activities are performed to Celtic Landscapes' high standards.
- Operate and maintain various gardening tools and equipment such as lawnmowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and hand tools, always adhering to safety protocols and reporting any maintenance needs.
- Prepare garden beds and soil for planting, which includes digging, raking, cultivating, and incorporating soil amendments to create optimal growing conditions for plants.
- Support the installation of hard landscaping features like paving, decking, fencing, and irrigation systems, under supervision, contributing to the structural and aesthetic elements of our projects.
- Ensure all work areas are kept clean, tidy, and organised throughout the workday, promoting a safe and efficient working environment for the entire team and minimising disruption to clients.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of plants, materials, and equipment from vehicles, as well as the responsible disposal of green waste and other refuse in an environmentally conscious manner.
- Diligently follow all health and safety guidelines and company policies at all times, participating actively in safety briefings and maintaining a proactive approach to risk assessment.
- Engage positively and professionally with team members, clients, and the public, representing Celtic Landscapes with courtesy and respect in all interactions.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual labour in various weather conditions.
- A strong work ethic, punctuality, and reliability.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn and follow instructions.
- Basic understanding of health and safety practices in an outdoor working environment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (even voluntary) in gardening, landscaping, or grounds maintenance.
- A full UK driving license.
- A genuine interest in horticulture, plants, and environmental care.
- Knowledge of basic plant care and identification.
