Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Gardener to join our team, specifically assigned to a prestigious residential estate in Lokogoma, Abuja. This is a full-time, morning shift position, critical to maintaining the lush greenery and aesthetic appeal of the estate. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a love for horticulture, and a strong work ethic. You will be responsible for ensuring the estate’s gardens, lawns, and communal green spaces are immaculately kept, contributing significantly to the residents’ quality of life and the property’s overall value. This role requires physical stamina, a proactive approach, and the ability to work independently to deliver outstanding results. Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily gardening duties including mowing lawns, trimming hedges, weeding flowerbeds, and pruning shrubs and trees.
- Plant and nurture new flowers, plants, and trees according to seasonal requirements and landscape designs.
- Implement effective watering schedules and irrigation techniques to ensure plant health.
- Monitor plants for signs of disease, pests, or nutritional deficiencies and apply appropriate treatments.
- Maintain cleanliness of all garden areas, including sweeping paths, clearing fallen leaves, and disposing of green waste responsibly.
- Operate and maintain gardening tools and equipment safely and efficiently, performing minor repairs as needed.
- Ensure all common areas, pathways, and outdoor amenities within the estate are clean and aesthetically pleasing.
- Report any significant issues or damage to property management promptly.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a gardener or groundskeeper, preferably within a residential or commercial setting.
- Sound knowledge of various plant types, soil conditions, and basic horticulture practices.
- Proficiency in operating gardening tools and equipment (e.g., lawnmowers, trimmers, hedge cutters).
- Ability to identify common plant diseases and pests and apply appropriate remedies.
- Good physical stamina and ability to perform strenuous tasks in various weather conditions.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to maintaining high standards.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Horticultural certification or relevant vocational training.
- Basic understanding of landscape design principles.
