As a Gardener at ATKV Natalia Beach Resort, you will be a vital part of our facilities and grounds maintenance team, directly impacting the aesthetic appeal and ecological health of our entire property. Key Responsibilities
- Perform general garden maintenance, including weeding, pruning, mowing, watering, raking, and sweeping.
- Plant and care for flowers, shrubs, trees, and other plants according to seasonal schedules and resort landscaping plans.
- Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides safely and effectively to maintain plant health and control pests/diseases.
- Operate and maintain gardening equipment and tools, such as lawnmowers, trimmers, blowers, and irrigation systems.
- Monitor plant health, identify problems, and implement appropriate solutions.
- Assist with the design and installation of new garden beds and landscape features.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of all garden areas, pathways, and outdoor public spaces.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and resort policies while performing duties.
- Collaborate with the facilities team to ensure integrated grounds maintenance and aesthetic consistency.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Gardener or Landscaper, preferably in a resort or commercial setting.
- Solid knowledge of horticultural practices, including planting, pruning, soil health, and pest management.
- Ability to operate and maintain various gardening tools and machinery safely.
- Good understanding of different plant species, especially those suited to the KwaZulu-Natal climate.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform strenuous tasks, lift heavy objects, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal qualification in Horticulture, Landscaping, or a related field.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Experience with irrigation systems and water management.
- Knowledge of indigenous KwaZulu-Natal flora.
