Are you a talented and self-driven videographer with a passion for storytelling and a keen eye for capturing the essence of a destination? Eco Tours Rwanda is seeking a highly skilled Freelance Videographer specializing in video production to join our creative team on a project-by-project basis. This is a remote-first opportunity, allowing you to work from anywhere while delivering exceptional video content that brings Rwanda’s natural landscapes, wildlife, cultural experiences, and our unique tours to life.
We are looking for a creative professional who can conceptualize, shoot (or use existing footage/stock where appropriate and approved), edit, and deliver high-quality video content suitable for our website, social media channels, and marketing campaigns. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio demonstrating their ability to produce engaging and visually stunning travel, wildlife, and documentary-style videos. You will be responsible for translating our brand message into compelling narratives, showcasing the unparalleled beauty and transformative experiences that Eco Tours Rwanda offers. This role demands excellent self-management skills, a deep understanding of video production workflows from pre-production to post-production, and the ability to work collaboratively to meet project objectives and deadlines. While the work is remote, an understanding of the Rwandan context and, specifically, the Musanze region’s unique offerings (like gorilla trekking, local culture, and stunning landscapes) will be a significant advantage. Key Responsibilities
- Conceptualize, plan, and execute video projects from start to finish, aligned with Eco Tours Rwanda's brand guidelines and marketing objectives.
- Shoot (or creatively source and integrate existing/stock footage) and capture high-quality video content showcasing Rwanda's natural beauty, wildlife, cultural interactions, and tour experiences.
- Perform professional video editing, including cutting, color grading, sound design, motion graphics (if applicable), and incorporating music and voiceovers.
- Collaborate closely with the marketing team to understand project briefs, objectives, and target audience.
- Ensure all video content is technically sound, visually engaging, and optimized for various platforms (e.g., YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, website).
- Incorporate feedback effectively and iterate on video edits to achieve desired outcomes.
- Manage project timelines, deliverables, and communication independently.
- Deliver final video files in various required formats and resolutions.
- Maintain an organized archive of project files and raw footage.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a videographer and video editor, with a strong portfolio showcasing travel, wildlife, or documentary-style video production.
- Proficiency in professional video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro).
- Strong understanding of visual storytelling, composition, lighting, and audio recording principles.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Access to professional-grade video equipment (if shooting new content) or a strong network for sourcing high-quality existing footage.
- Experience with color grading and sound design.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with drone videography and licensing (if applicable).
- Familiarity with motion graphics and animation.
- Previous experience working with tourism, hospitality, or conservation brands.
- Knowledge of the Rwandan tourism landscape, culture, and wildlife.
- Ability to tell compelling stories with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of Kinyarwanda is a plus.
